Wedding song ideas

My biological dad is technically in the picture, but did pretty much nothing for me growing up and now. My step dad came into my life when I was 9, and I consider him my dad. I had "I loved her first" all picked out, but now I'm thinking I want to do a song that acknowledges him and my mom since she was my "dad" for the first 9 years.

The "issues", so to speak:
1. My real dad will be at the wedding. I'm going to explain to him that my step dad will be doing the father of the bride stuff, but my goal is to not totally break his heart. (He was never there for me, but I don't want to be flat out mean)
2. My step dad and mom have been divorced for the last 10 years, and he is remarried. (All the more reason I respect him and want to honor him. He still acts as my dad even though he doesn't have to.)
3. After picking "I loved her first", I found out that was one of my best friend's song with her dad. She said she doesn't mind that I'm using the same song, but I can see that it does kind of bother her (not that she would ever say it or hold it against me though). I just feel like with a million songs out there, there has to be another one that fits and that I don't have to "steal" from someone else.

I was thinking of a song that talks about both parents that I could switch from my step dad to my mom in the middle. A country song would be ideal, but I am open to all suggestions. Thanks!

Ceremony on Steps?

So, a couple is getting married on the riverbank at a new marina recently built at our city. The reception will be held in a building above where they want to get married. The reception building is elevated and the ground is level beneath it, where we considered having the ceremony. But, the sun doesn't shine there and has a dark/damp feeling. So, we are considering having the ceremony on the steps beneath the reception building leading to the water. But, I have no idea how to setup the ceremony where there are steps, where the people would sit. I mean the steps are wide enough…I would say each step is 4 feet long, and a little more than a foot high… Rolled Carpet? White Folding Chairs?

Typically, chairs on steps not a good idea unless it's seated like a movie stadium seating where it is going up, not down and they would have to be very wide steps in order to have chairs and still have plenty of room for people to walk by, like a big spacious movie theater where you can walk by the other people without them having to flinch. Otherwise it's too dangerous to have chairs on the stairs. I also need to talk to the reception hall as they would be the ones to set this up for us and may or may not even allow it.

Boat vs Beach Wedding Event

My fiance has given me a $5000 budget to plan a wedding. We're getting married next year. He has suggested to do it on a yacht. I've looked into it and a couple of my friends have had their own weddings on a boat as well but said it was crowded for 40 people. We're having about 50 and the next size up for most companies requires 70 people. But this way I don't have to plan anything, its all included. Now he wants to do our honeymoon on a cruise ship so I don't really want to be on a boat twice even though it'll be different, so I've looked into having our ceremony on the beach, which suits my dress very well. This is not all inclusive so I have to do all the planning myself which is fine. The pricing is about the same either way we go, but what are you're opinions?

Its a waterfront property its on the second floor of a small community building. i can rent it out for 8 hours as opposed to 6 hours (4hrs cruising) on a boat. both places are small but the beach building would be less cramped and i can decorate it how i want. not to mention using the lawn or wander the beach part. I was leaning towards it before he even mentioned the boat. I've found a cheap cater too but don't know if I want to spend money on that. All inclusive would be preferable. I've found this other place on the beach in another city that does it. I dont know if its in my budget so I've just emailed them to find out.

It really depends on your personal tastes. I just recently attended a wedding on a boat. It was 120 guests, the boat claimed to hold 150 but there was barely room to move and it was HOT in the dining room at dinner. The food was mediocre, the cake was mediocre but there was an open bar. It was definitely NOT my ideal wedding.

I would personally much more enjoy a wedding on the beach, even if it were a potluck bbq. I'm kind of a germophobe so I don't really dig on potlucks too much but I can usually find some store bought potato salad or something to munch on.

Obviously the feel of the boat wedding vs. the beach wedding are going to be very different. So what do you feel inclined to do? What is your vision for the beach wedding? Is there a beach near you that can be reserved so strangers don't crash your wedding, or is that even an issue for you?

Thinking of changing systems

I'm currently using a Canon EOS digital system with an XT and a 30D.

The XT has around 5K clicks and the 30D around 1K. Hardly used and both bought new.

My issue is that the whole setup has bad memories attached to it. Let me attempt to explain...

I always loved photography and would get the occasional bit of money in, doing photography for fun. Then somebody close to me sold me on the idea of going pro (which I really didn't want to do and didn't have any real desire to do). Needless to say they had me spend a shit load of money that really I would rathe rnot have spent. That individual was quite some scam artist and I am very relieved I have nothing to do with that individual any more.

I'm left with a load of studio stuff and EOS stuff that while I love using it, has those memories attached.

I was very happy just taking photos for myself. In fact I've even used photos that I've taken myself to illustrate a couple of books I wrote. I will freely admit the photos in the book aren't perfect - they're merely there to illustrate what an ordinary Joe can achieve. I seem to be lambasted for them whatever and you know something - I just don't care.

Anyway, I'm looking at losing a shit load of money on all this. I spent 50k on each camera and they're now worth very little more than half a pound of pig dung despite the fact they work perfectly and have had little to no use. I absolutely hate that. I need to cleanse myself of the bad memories so it looks like I should sell everything.

Displaying your work

Tablets seem to be a great way of displaying your work. I absolutely love being able to display my work on a tablet. I did buy the wrong tablet though. I bought a Nook Color. It's got a great display and shows my pictures phenomenally. Just one tiny problem - it goes bananas in humidity. I was showing my stuff in a crowded room and the humidity got to it - the screen was either flipping through images on its own or it was totally dead and unresponsive. Very embarrassing!

So... I'm selling my Nook Color on ebay and thinking of replacing it with something else. My tablet worked just fine for the first 30 minutes but as ever more bodies crammed into the room - it was a Chamber of Commerce after hours event, the humidity in the room rose and the thing started malfunctioning.

I'm really thinking of getting some 6x4 prints made and just spiral binding them. Any suggestions? Is there such a thing as a reliable tablet that costs half of an iPad or less or must I get an iPad?

Obtain vinyl lyric for etching

I would like to create an etching on a window (about 2'x4') of lyrics from a nursery song. It would be nice to incorporate some simple graphics to enhance this etching. Anyone know where I can go to get this designed and/or cut out of vinyl so I can attach to the glass and apply an etching compound?

I've seen many web sites that have graphics and others that have letters but none that lets you create something (like a computer file) and use as a template.

While I don't have one, it sounds like something a Cricut could do. There are several font styles and sizes to choose from. Since the window is so large, the stencil letters may need to be cut in rows or sections. Of course the vinyl does not need to cover the entire window, just the area for the lettering and graphics. I don't know what kind of vinyl to use or where you'd have this done (unless you have your own machine), but I'm sure someone here will chime in.

Reminder Warning

No one thinks it will happen to them but we just had a couple have all their envelopes stolen at their wedding at a hotel venue. It was so sad, it was a modest wedding they saved for and the gift $$ were going toward the honeymoon-to cover room, meals and extras. They had already purchased plane tickets for and can't get refunds. So, you think it won't happen to you? Neither did they.

People need to realize that crime happens
There are people who will go to events for this purpose
Anything you have of value needs to be protected

If you have gifts or money, somebody needs to watch over it!

Today's term is Lossy/Lossless files

When a digital camera takes a photo, the image data is stored on a memory card as a computer file. If the data is stored fully, the file is called a lossless file. These files are quite large in size. The most common type of lossless file in use are TIFFs. To cut down on large file sizes, the camera can throw away parts of the data that the human eye probably won't notice anyway. These files are called lossy. The most common type of lossy file are JPEGs. Caution should be taken when using JPEGs if image quality is important. NB: mp3 music files work in a similar way. The original, complete music file, is stripped down leaving only the bits that the human ear is sensitive to left behind.

I know that was one gift I never gotten now for my sister she got that gift and every time I got into an argument with her she started throwing those big words at me I would never know what to say.

I got the golden hands I can almost fix anything, they would be bring me all kinds of things what this? bang boom this is what it does.

I lost my father at an early age and I ran the streets doing whatever, I dropped out of school like a dummy. Those were the mistakes I made. When I worked I always made it to the top. I'm self taught at everything or show me once and I got it.

When I taught myself computers back in the 80's my youngest sister another word brain child and she's on the phone with my computer brain brother-in-law trying to figure out the problem I wanted to use the phone to call my girl up so I can go get lay, boy she holler at me, what's the problem I'm trying to fix my computer, give me that thing.

I fdisk and reformatted the hard drive and put a program on it which was called powermenu and I give it back to her but where's my program at I think it was called gyro no windows. I hit a button here it is OH how did you learn how to do that? I said never you mind.

I ran my computer repair shop for other 15 years and I was one of the best in the city, everybody came to me and I still get calls. I known all over I had guys come in and tell me we were in a bar in Delaware N guys were talking about you to them selves yea bring your computer to the gadgetman, I was in a restaurant and they switch up on my seafood platter to a fisherman special which was bull crap I was flipping out a guy stood up that's the computer guy.

I had guys beg me to teach them I always told them I don't think about it I just do it it's second nature to me. I was flying through this one guys computer and he said you don't want nobody to learn what I want to get you done so I can move on to the next one.

There's times I read what I have written and said what did I write. The only way to learn something is to do it over and over again so I keep writing the best I know how.

When I closed my store down I was in another guy's store saying I need a job, a guy turn around and said why don't you start one cause that's what I do. I can talk better then I write I stumble on words but I'll keep trying. Running to the fblimit but thanks for the good luck. Peace.
